Highlands County Community Wildfire Protection PlanOn July 6, 2010, the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved the Highlands County Community Wildfire Protection Plan which was developed during the course of an eleven-month planning process overseen by the Highlands County Wildfire Mitigation Committee, a multi-jurisdictional stakeholder committee.  The CWPP is a collaborative strategy developed to address Highlands County's high risk to wildfire and help reduce the potential impact to local homes, businesses, or public infrastructure.  The Plan includes a comprehensive list of actions intended to be implemented locally to increase resiliency.  The final CWPP can be downloaded from this site.  Any questions or comments about the final plan can be directed to Allison Boyd or Tara McCaw of CSA International, Inc. at (772) 219-3000.

The complete Highlands County Community Wildfire Protection Plan has been uploaded to the documents section of this website.  The plan is scheduled to be presented before the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners for consideration for adoption in July 2010.
